Eric Newhouse, Author of Faces of Combat, PTSD and TBI: One Journalist’s Crusade to Improve Treatment for Our Veterans

Eric Newhouse won the Pulitzer Prize in 2000 for a yearlong series of stories about alcoholism. Now he has written about the devastation caused by PTSD from the Iraq & Afghanistan wars & the ongoing trauma for veterans from Vietnam and other American conflicts. His concern is that 1/3 to 1/2 of the 1.6 million men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan can be expected to return home with one or all three emotional disorders – post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), or major depression. Newhouse’s crusade is to get the young men and women who have served their country on the battlefields the help they need... and deserve.
