DSHS Accepting Comments on Legislative Appropriations Request

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) held public meetings on April 29th and May 4th, 2010 to solicit input into the development of the agency's 2012-2013 Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR).  DSHS will continue to take comments until May 14th, 2010.

It is important that you take this opportunity to let the DSHS council know how vital substance abuse prevention and treatment programs are to our community.  Given the tremendous short fall facing the state we will not be asking for new dollars.  Texas ASAP developed wonderful talking points for the teleconference meetings, which can be used as a guide when drafting your comments.  I would strongly encourage us to follow theses points and speak with one united voice across the state.  Click here to download the ASAP talking points.

While it is important for agency leadership to address the DSHS leadership, it is even more impactful when TAAP members, family, friends and those in recovery speak on our behalf.

Our unified message is: " Keep subststance abuse prevention and treatment funding a prioriety."
