Since taking office as President in September 2019, the board authorized Sherri Layton to secure/seek to a place for TAAP in several policy groups.

Texas Coalition for Healthy Minds - coalition for associations interested in mental health and substance use disorder policy in Texas. She attended the first meeting in November of 2019.

Substance Use Disorder Coalition – group comprised of addiction-related associations that provide focused advocacy on SUD public policy. We have been accepted to join and are awaiting the first meeting.

Behavioral Health Advisory Board – primary stakeholder group advising TXHHSC on matters relating to SUD and mental health matters. An application has been submitted and we are waiting to hear back. There are a couple of additional groups we hope to become involved in. Our participation in these coalitions is important to bring the voice of the addiction professional (prevention, treatment, and recovery) to the conversations that will influence the upcoming legislative session. We have partnered with some of these groups in the past but are seeking a more formal association.
